Padres' Blanco lands on DL

07/05/2009 - San Diego, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The San Diego Padres placed catcher Henry Blanco on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring on Sunday.

The veteran catcher suffered the injury while running the bases during the Padres' 7-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday.

In 38 games for San Diego this year, the 37-year-old was batting .218 with 10 runs batted in and four home runs.

Also on Sunday, the club selected the contract of catcher Jose Lobaton from Triple-A Portland and designated right-handed pitcher Edwin Moreno for assignment.

The 24-year-old Lobaton was hitting .250 with eight RBI and three homers in 38 games with Portland this season.

Moreno, who made his MLB debut with San Diego this year, went 1-3 with a 4.84 earned run average in 19 relief appearances.
