06/04/2010 - Toronto, ON (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Kansas City Wizards travel to BMO Field to face Toronto FC on Saturday in hopes of snapping a seven-game winless streak.
Wizards (2-5-2) head coach Peter Vermes has seen his team lose four of its last five games by a combined score of 12-4, and after winning its first two games to start the season, Kansas City has gone into a tailspin that Vermes must find an answer for.
"It's my responsibility," Vermes told mlssoccer.com. "Obviously there is something that's not right [with the Wizards]. I'm going to figure it out and I'm going to figure it out quick."
Vermes had better do some quick thinking if he wants his team to avoid falling further down the Eastern Conference table, where they are currently in sixth place but just two points clear of last-placed D.C. United.
Making matters worse for the Wizards is the fact that they will be without recently-appointed team captain Davy Arnaud, who picked up a pair of yellow cards in the team's 4-1 defeat against Real Salt Lake last time out and is suspended.
Roger Espinoza will also miss the game for Kansas City because his is away on international duty with Honduras preparing for the World Cup.
Toronto (5-4-1) is probably not the team that Vermes would choose to be playing on Saturday considering the Reds are in their best form of the season with three wins and a draw from their last four games.
TFC enters the match in third place in the East, five points back of leaders Columbus, and it is their form at home that is a big reason why they have climbed up the table.
The Reds have won all four of their home games this season, while captain Dwayne De Rosario is enjoying a great start to his campaign with eight goals and three assists.
De Rosario scored a pair of goals in last week's 3-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes after coming off the bench, and he is full of confidence after helping the team to its first road win of the season.
"I'm feeling great, especially after scoring two goals," he told mlssoccer.com. "It was a great win for us and will be huge for our confidence to get our first victory on the road. It is very refreshing to see the total team effort and the team work that happens every game. We are working hard in training and it is paying off. It is great to have eight goals for the season but it is most important that we keep moving up the standings."
